María Irizarry Porrata

Invited Artist

This young artist is currently finishing her Bachelor of Fine Arts at PUCPR. She has worked in various mediums including painting, but at present she concentrates on photography. The works presented in this exhibition are part of a project in which the artist seeks to narrate an architectural history of Puerto Rico. Photographing different buildings in towns such as Ponce, San German and Yauco, María presents structures that have become ruins or historical spaces over time. During her research process, she asked different people what structures they consider important in the places that she visited and then photograph. Her works are altered, taking into consideration temperature, tint, saturation and various light settings, always seeking to highlight the space to capture the viewer's attention.
