María J. Palés Rodríguez

Invited Artist

Her interest in the arts led her in 2015 to take sculpture and painting workshops at the School of Fine Arts in Guayama. That experience motivated her to dedicate herself to working with acrylic painting, sculpture and wood carving. She had several teachers in the art world who helped and educated her to develop her artistic knowledge. In 2017 she participated in the Collective Exhibition of the Sculpture Workshop at the Centro de Bellas Artes de Guayama where she received several awards for some of her works presented. Later, in 2018, she presented her first individual exhibition at the Museo de la Historia de Ponce. The following year she began her Master of Arts studies with a specialty in Painting and Drawing at the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Puerto Rico, Ponce Campus. In her first year of studies at that institution, she participated in her first collective exhibitions, Sueños de Libertad and Atisbo X. She states that she paints in a colorful way to channel her emotions. The works presented in this exhibition are a reflection of that statement and show the freedom and impressionism of her brushstrokes.
